Hazel (Haftel) Long

December 22, 1938 — July 1, 2023

Hazel Long completed her life and service here on earth and moved to live with our Heavenly Father on July 1, 2023. She was born in Bath, PA, on December 22,1938 to the late Paul and Catherine Haftel.

She graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1956 and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. Becoming a licensed Registered Nurse, Hazel would work at various medical facilities, including Morristown Hospital, NJ, University of Iowa Medical Center, and Bethany Village Retirement Community in Mechanicsburg. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Jim, have been longtime members of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church.

As a couple, the two enjoyed cruises and traveling. Hazel especially liked searching for wildlife at twilight during trips to national parks, and in later years, she took great pride in caring for her grandchildren and cheering them on at their youth soccer and lacrosse games.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Long; two sons, Mark of Seattle, WA, and Gregory (wife, Candice) of Belle Mead, NJ; as well as four beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Thomas, Claire, and Colin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Scott J. Long.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made either Hospice of Central PA – Carolyn’s House, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 N. 23rd Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
