Helen E. Mowery, 93, of Messiah Lifeways, formerly of Etters died Thursday, December 25th at Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp.
A graduate of the former New Cumberland High School, she was a Life Elder of the New Cumberland First Church of God where she sang in the choir for many years. Her life revolved around her family, service to the church, making soup, and sewing. When her late husband retired, they both volunteered serving the Bridge Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations.
She was born November 29, 1932 in New Cumberland to the late Ernest Hamilton and Blanche Gertrude (Matter) Spoonhour. Helen was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Mowery; and brothers, Ernest, Ronald, and Douglas Spoonhour.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Anne Donath of Clarks Summit and Shirley Louise Osman of Landisburg; sister, Sarah Cocklin of York Springs; brother, Kenneth Spoonhour of New Cumberland; brother-in-law, Edward Mowery of East Petersburg; and granddaughter, Laura Donath of Sayre.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Wednesday, January 31st at New Cumberland First Church of God. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
