Helen Marie Balmer Titzel, age 85, of Lower Allen Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30. Born in Harrisburg on November 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Balmer, Jr. and Mary Reidell Balmer.
Helen graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1957, where she excelled in softball and basketball. She began her career at Nationwide Insurance Company, where she met her beloved husband, John T. Titzel. Their loving marriage spanned 57 years until his passing. Helen formed lifelong friendships at Nationwide. She later worked at Rossmoyne Elementary and Red Land High School before retiring to care for her granddaughter, Kayleigh.
A devoted member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, Helen’s faith and kindness were evident in every aspect of her life. She is survived by her two sons and their families: John T. Titzel Jr. and his wife Stephanie, along with their son Drew of Lewisberry, PA; and Arthur N. Titzel and his daughters Kayleigh and Annalise of Mechanicsburg, PA. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless close friends from Girl Scouts, TOPS, the Messiah pool and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church—each touched by her warmth, generosity and joyful spirit.
