James “Jim” Lutz, 88, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away from this life on Monday, September 15, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 27, 1936, to George and Anna Lutz in Williamstown.
After graduating from Williamstown High School, Jim enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy, spending time on the high seas aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Valley Forge. Upon leaving military service, Jim was employed by the federal government for 35 years, retiring from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot.
He married Marty Yanoscak of Lykens on October 10, 1959. Jim and Marty enjoyed 65 years of marriage—just shy of 66—raising a beautiful family while living in New Cumberland. Jim was first and foremost an outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed spending time at the camp in Northern Dauphin County, called “The High Chaparral”, traveling the area with “the boys”, storming the local golf courses, and tailgating at the PSU football games.
He was a life member of the Mechanicsburg Men’s Club, a member of the American Legion Post 239 - Williamstown, the VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of a plethora of outdoor/sporting clubs, including the Higgins Trap Club, the Short Mountain Gun Club, The Valley Gun & Country Club, The Union County Sportsman’s Club, Elysburg Gun Club, and Northern York County Game and Fish, among others.
He was also a life member of the ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Assoc.) since 1972. He attended and shot in the ATA State Trapshoots in all 50 states. It was a labor of love that took 14 years, which he completed in the year 2002. He drove to every tournament except for Alaska and Hawaii, with his wife, Marty, accompanying him to many of the shoots, enjoying the scenery and wonder of this great country.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, Todd Joseph Lutz, and brother, George Lutz. He is survived by his wife, Marty; sons, James Craig Lutz (Brenda Marie) and Scott David Lutz (Mary Elizabeth); grandchildren, Alicia Nichole Eisenhower (Joe), Bennett Todd Lutz, Sarah Elizabeth Grace Lutz, and Joshua Lucas Joseph Lutz; great-grandson, Maverick Joseph Eisenhower; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held from 10-11AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. A graveside service will take place at 12:30PM that afternoon in Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Williamstown.
