James L. Walsh, Esquire, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on January 13, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on August 24, 1947, in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Leon and Emma (Palko) Walsh. A proud alumnus of Our Lady of Lourdes High School (1965), University of Scranton (1969), and Dickinson Law School (1972).
A distinguished professional, James served as the Associate Director of the Pennsylvania Legislative Reference Bureau, and practiced law in Harrisburg with notable partners, Herschel Lock and Steve Nicholas. James was a member of the Dauphin County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. His military service as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard reflected his commitment to his country and community.
James found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was his passion for golf, traveling the country to play the sport he loved, or cheering for Notre Dame football. He was a cherished member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Palko Jug Club, and a dedicated participant in the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the impact he made on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Walsh
James is survived by his loving wife, Tawna (Bauer), his son Matthew; many cousins, including Lisa Bradley (Patrick), William Gilger (JoAnne), Mark Gilger (Paula), Julian Burgess, Maryann Anderson, Susan Barrett, and many nieces and nephews. His cherished dog, Bella, was always at his side.
He also cherished the memories created with friends, especially with George Savitske, who was always ready for the next adventure, whether it was attending appointments or embarking on spontaneous trips together.
Viewing will be 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 20, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Wednesday, January 21, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill
Committal will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville
