Janet Ann Neff

Janet A. Neff, 91, of Lewisberry PA, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at home with her husband Wayne & her son Jef Frey by her side. She was born September 15, 1934, in Stony Creek, Berks County, the youngest of 5 children of Pearl (Dahl) & George Yeager. She was the widow of William B. Harral.

Janet graduated, with honors, from Mt .Penn High School. She worked for Bell of PA, Bell of NJ, was business manager of the Aurora Club of Central PA, of the Appalachian School of Experience, Project Life, and the retired Business Manager of the County Commissioners Association of PA.

Nanny, as she was known to many, is survived by her husband M. Wayne Neff, her sons Jef Frey, Todd Harral, Scott Weisel, step-children Leslie Mathieson, William B. Harral (Susan), Terri Johnson, Julie Neff, and grandchildren, Alex Harral, Jackson Harral, Jake Bullis, William Harral (Catlin), Kinsey Harral, Taylor Anderson (Eric), Trevor Mathieson (Caitlyn), Ian Johnson, Marcus Neff, Kathrina Weisel, Rebecca Weisel, 9 great-grand children and countless pseudo-family loved ones.

In her past life, Janet raised her family on a non-working farm next to the Appalachian Trail in a large historic house with many bedrooms. She was known for preparing meals for at least 7 & as many as 12 every day. She was a homemaker, mother to many, caregiver & gourmet cook, having prepared meals for both family as well as dinner parties for PA Government Dignitaries. She wrote & produced her own cookbook, The Harral Family Favorites Cookbook, containing hundreds of favorite recipes. She was known for taking in, mothering, feeding & housing many who often lived in her home for extended periods of time. She was known to provide aid to many hikers on the Appalachian Trail who would stop for ice cream, a meal, a dip in her pool and a place to rest. She was a selfless giver of her love and caring to countless many. And, on top of all that, she worked full-time at responsible jobs.

Years after the death of her husband Bill, Janet met her husband, Wayne. Before they were married, she told Wayne, “I'm going to help you get a life and a Passport”...and she did. They traveled extensively, often on their own, to Israel, Jordan & Egypt; Africa; all of the European countries; Russia; extensively in all of the USA, Canada, the Caribbean Islands, South America, Central America and Mexico. They took family on some of their many cruises. They spent many years going down to & enjoying their home in Bethany Beach, DE.

Janet was a hard working, loving, caring, giving, and sharing person. She practiced her faith through service to others rather than through words. She made a tremendous impression on so many people through her service & compassion. She will be missed by the many people who knew & loved her. The world has lost another angel among us. She has now gone on ahead to help prepare a place for us.

Janet's family will hold a private family gathering together on Friday, September 11, 1:00 at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland PA. Janet's family will hold a Public Celebration of Life Gathering for all to come between 1:00 and 4:00 on Friday, October 9 at Strock Enterprises, 729 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg, PA. Please be prepared to share your memories of Janet's wonderful life.
