Jean S. Stout

Jean S. Stout, 91, of Lewisberry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by love, faith, hard work, generosity, and a deep commitment to serving others.

She was the retired owner and operator, along with her husband, Charles E. Stout, of Stout’s West Enola Market. Together, they built not only a business, but a place where generations of customers were welcomed and treated like family.

Jean’s heart for helping others was evident throughout her life. She gave 21 years of dedicated volunteer service to the Red Land Food Ministry. She also volunteered for many years at the Valley Grange #1360 milkshake stand at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, where she enjoyed serving others and being part of the community. Her willingness to give her time and energy to help others was simply part of who she was.

Jean was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisberry, since 1969, where she was also an active member of the church’s women’s group. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her love for her church family was evident to those who knew her. Her life was marked by daily devotion with ‘Our Daily Bread’ and prayer.

Jean graduated from Muncy Creek High School in 1953 and later from Williamsport School of Commerce.

She was born March 11, 1935, in Muncy, Pennsylvania, to the late Clinton and E. Louise (Lyons) Shipman.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Stout; her sister, M. Joann Wolfe; and her grandson, Charles Stout II.

She is survived by her daughters, Maureen L. Forry (Jim) of Lewisberry and Julie A. Moore (Robert) of Biglerville; her son, Kevin C. Stout (Byambatseren) of Lewisberry; her sister, Linda K. Kroft (Jim) of Mechanicsburg; and her brother, Roy L. Shipman (JoAnn) of Lancaster; as well as eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jean will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, strong work ethic, love of family, McDonalds’s Fish Filet, reading crime novels, watching Jeopardy, and willingness to serve others. She gave herself faithfully to the people and communities she loved. Her family and friends will cherish the many memories she leaves behind and the love she shared so freely throughout her 91 years.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home in New Cumberland. Burial will follow at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.
