Jeffrey A. Shaffer, Sr. 64 of Mechanicsburg passed away to his heavenly home Thursday, January 15, 2026 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
A 1979 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, he was a retired Technician from Erlich Pest Control. Prior to Erlich, he worked as a machine operator for Hershey Creamery Company. Jeff attended Brookfield Bible Church in Harrisburg; served on Penbrook Borough Council; and was Past Master of Eureka West Shore Lodge, No. 302, F&AM Mechanicsburg and Past High Priest of Samuel C. Perkins Royal Arch Chapter, 209 of Mechanicsburg. A proud Eagle Scout, Jeff was a member of Order of the Arrow. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping and was an avid baseball and college football fan: especially Oklahoma University. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, basketball, and playing video games. Above all, he loved his family dearly.
Jeffrey suffered many health issues in recent years and the one thing that could lift his spirits was his granddaughter, Emma. She meant so much to him. Even in the hospital, he had Esther call her so he could talk to her on the phone.
He was born November 20, 1961 in Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Shaffer and brother, Brian K. Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Lee (Winger) Shaffer; mother, Leona M. (Miller) Shaffer; sons, Raymond Kintzel of Duncannon, Jeffrey Shaffer, Jr. of Enola, and Travis Mallett of Penbrook; granddaughter, Emma L. Mallett; and fur baby Bandit Shaffer.
Visitation will be at 10am followed by the memorial service at 11am Friday, January 23rd at Brookfield Bible Church, 3601 Brookfield Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17109.
