Jerry T. Stahlman, 84, of Lewisberry, PA, completed his earthly journey on Friday, June 26, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. Born on August 1, 1941, in Punxsutawney, he was one of twelve children to the late Paul and Martha (Slawson) Stahlman.
A 1959 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, Jerry proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he met the love of his life, Nancy, while stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts. He earned an engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, working multiple jobs to put himself through college. He began his career with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania before earning his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and founding Stahlman & Stallman in York. His firm completed numerous municipal wastewater and infrastructure projects, in addition to early work at Ski Roundtop, and many housing developments, subdivisions and commercial applications across the region. Jerry also served as a Warrington Township Supervisor and taught wastewater management at the college level.
Known equally for his intellect, tenacity and generosity, Jerry served as a mentor to many and quietly helped countless people facing difficult times. His confidence in others helped them aspire to greater character and achievement.
He had a special fondness for automobiles, particularly European marques, and enjoyed attending racing events with family at Watkins Glen and Summit Point. He had a breadth of interests, such as mathematics/engineering, history, nature, theology and more. His curiosity was endless. He devoured books seeking greater wisdom and understanding. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering, continued weightlifting into his late seventies, and was renowned for his clever quips, such as, "It's an engineering thing”, “Your reputation precedes you”, “Be kinder than necessary”, and “Don’t let anyone be more magnanimous than yourself.”
While his professional accomplishments were many, his greatest pride was his family and meaningful friendships. He cherished every opportunity to encourage and support his children and grandchildren and remained an active part of their lives.
In 2021, an accident forced Jerry’s retirement from his work and many of the activities he loved. Through it all, Nancy faithfully cared for and supported him, allowing him to remain in the home he designed and they (literally) built together in the early 1970s.
Surviving Jerry is his wife of 63 years, Nancy E. (Blasko) Stahlman; his children, Teresa Bruggeman of Gainesville, FL, Erich Stahlman (Lisa) of Mt. Wolf, and Josh Stahlman (Barbie) of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Anna (Ajay), Bethany (Greg), Caela (Blair), Malakai (Cypress), Bennett (Caroline), Danielle (Blaine), Nick (Alexandra), and Paul; great-grandchildren, Gloria, Walter, Seward, Rhoda, Brooks, Baylee; sisters, Maryann Holt and Nada Smith; and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of WellSpan York Hospital for the genuine and compassionate care they provided in the days leading to Jerry’s passing. Everyone from the Neuro ICU, the Palliative and Hospice teams, and the nurses on Tower 3 and North 3A were incredibly supportive and comforting.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. An 11:00 AM mass will follow at St. Theresa Catholic Church (located directly across the street from the funeral home). Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
