Jimmy D. Richardson, 68, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 23, 2026, at home. He was the son of Mollie and the late Wayne Richardson, born on May 2, 1957, in Bullard, TX.
Raised in the Lone Star State, Jimmy remained a proud Texan at heart—even after making his home in Pennsylvania. A devoted patriot, he served his country as a Private in the U.S. Army.
From a young age, Jimmy worked alongside his father, operating dump trucks and heavy machinery. That early exposure sparked a lifelong love of big equipment and naturally led to a career in trucking. He spent many years driving cross-country and, in the mid-1980s, met the love of his life, Diane, while passing through Carlisle, PA. Jimmy eventually retired from the open road after finishing his career with Sherwin-Williams.
A true gearhead, Jimmy was an accomplished mechanic who could talk endlessly about cars and drag racing. A certified car safety inspector, he took pride in knowing just about everything under the hood—often reminding others that he’d only taken his own car to a shop twice in nearly 70 years. He was always ready to lend a hand, especially when it came to helping his son with car troubles, time spent together that he deeply cherished.
Jimmy appreciated a good meal, whether it was Diane’s cooking or dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and he never ever passed up biscuits and gravy. Easygoing yet particular, he was rarely seen without a Diet Pepsi in hand and was famously selective about his wardrobe—especially his jeans.
A man of faith who always put family first, his greatest joy came from time spent with his granddaughter, Olivia. He spoiled her every opportunity he could and never missed a chance to support her at dance recitals, band concerts, or tennis and field hockey matches. He and Diane also loved taking her camping and fishing and on annual treks to the PA Farm Show.
Though Jimmy’s passing feels far too soon, his family finds comfort in knowing he’s watching over them—and likely doing majestic burnouts—until they meet again.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Diane Richardson; and locally, a son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Kelly Howell of Etters, and their daughter, Olivia—whom Jimmy affectionally referred to as his “dumpling.” He also leaves behind a family in Texas—a son, James Richardson; a daughter, Jessica Richardson; his mother, Mollie Richardson; a sister, and many grandchildren. In addition to his father, Wayne Richardson, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Frugé (d. 2016); and two siblings.
A public viewing will be held from 1PM until a funeral service begins at 3PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. The following day, Monday, March 2, a public committal service will take place at 2:30PM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Jimmy’s name to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
