Joan Simonton Fisher, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, dairy farmer and friend. She was born on March 3, 1935 in New Cumberland, PA, daughter of the late George and Dorothy Simonton.
Joan was the salutatorian of New Cumberland High School, class of 1953. She was a retired secretary for the Pennsylvania Parole Board, where she worked for 16 years.
She spent the remainder of her life working on the Fisher Farm (est. 1783) alongside her husband and son for over 50 years. She spent countless hours working with the family’s Holstein cattle, as well as keeping all of the financial records. Joan took great pride in her family, and cherished time spent with her granddaughter.
Joan is survived by her son, David J. Fisher, daughter-in-law, Nicole (Smith) Fisher, granddaughter, Hannah E. Fisher, brother, Donald (Diana) E. Simonton, nephew, Jeffrey (Robin) Simonton, niece, Sharon (Glenn) Murray, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeremiah K. Fisher.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18th at the Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, 402 Valley Road, Etters at 11 am.
