Joanne B. Sweeney

Joanne B. Sweeney, 86, of Mechanicsburg died Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Silver Spring Personal Care Home, Mechanicsburg.

A graduate of Jamestown High School, New York, she was an enthusiastic member of AHSTC: Austin Healey Sports and Touring Club, and Blue Moon Cruisers. In addition to sharing a love of cars with her late husband, Joanne shared a love of dogs having several breeds over the years with the most recent being her beloved French Bulldog, Lola.

She was born May 2, 1939 in Jamestown, NY to the late John Henry and Marguerite Elizabeth (Jensen) Buck. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Sweeney; daughter, Michelle M. Sweeney; and five siblings.

She is survived by her children, Allison Lininger of Harrisburg, Timothy Sweeney of Harrisburg, Pamela Mowdy (Darin) of Clarksville, TN, Robin Geiger (Pete) of Landisburg, Kevin Sweeney (Kendra) of New Cumberland, and Brenda Sweeney of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Mandy McNatt, Kyle Burchard, Tony Sweeney, Becka Sweeney, Steven Pianis, Joey Pianis, Jill Gamble, Kaitlyn Swam, Sydney Sweeney-Platts, and Jessica Tellstrom; and ten great-grandchildren.

Per Joanne’s wishes, a private family celebration of Joanne’s life will be held in the future.
