John A. Michalski

February 29, 1932 — October 8, 2016

John A. Michalski, 84, of Harrisburg , PA and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Hospice Unit of the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

John was a retired City of Pittsburgh Police Officer, a retired Director of Enforcement for the PA State Horse Racing Commission and a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War receiving three Bronze Stars. John was a graduate of Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School and furthered his education during his Army service with training at the Voice Interpretation School, Arlington Hall, VA. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland and American Legion Post 974, Fairview Twp.

John was born in Pittsburgh to the late John A. and Alice (Kominski) Michalski, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of more than 29 years, Charlotte Flynn Michalski; daughters, Lisa Balcer, Robin Michalski, Terri Michalski and Jane, Joan, Jean; and sons, Jim, John and Joe.

John will be buried with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., PA..
