John L. Price, Iii

January 16, 1935 — March 28, 2022

He called himself “Just Plain Jack” but he was a VERY SPECIAL MAN as a husband, father, Pap and friend. Jack was an extremely humble, generous, loving, kind, loyal man who valued family above all else.

Jack ended his journey through cancer on 3/28/2022 with dignity and a smile, holding the hand of his wife Carole and with a hug for his son Ken.

He is survived by the love of his life, M. Carole Maloney Price, children Kenneth G. Price (Chandra), Cynthia L. Paden Recupero (Frank), Beth M. Paden Witmer (Mike), Timothy M. Paden (Cindy), 5 Grands, 5 Gt Grands, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Grace Rowe Price and John L. Price Jr, son John L. Price IV, son Christopher M. Paden and sister Gwen Price Peifer.

John L. Price III was born 1/16/1935 at Harrisburg Hospital. He graduated from Wm Penn High School and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. After graduating in 1957, he was a pharmacist with his father at Pilchard & Price Pharmacy in Harrisburg. He took over when his father retired until he closed the family pharmacy in 1994. While working, he was active in the PA Pharmacy Association, Health Board of PA, Susquehanna township and other civic groups. After retiring, he worked part time as a compounding pharmacist at CFI and volunteered at Whitaker Center for 10 years.

Jack enjoyed family celebrations and vacations, a favorite was Carole & Jack’s 25th anniversary cruise. He loved golf with his buddies, biking (especially the STP and MS rides), skiing, sailing and reading. He and Carole loved to travel and every trip was
“the best”. Most recently they took many river boat trips with good friends. He, Carole and family spent many weekends at their friend’s cabin in Sullivan County where they married in 1977.

Even though they shared a very short time together, Jack had a special relationship with the youngest Gt Grand Eli, who lit Pap up with a grin every time.

Jack left us all with so many memories, laughs and hugs--we love you forever.
