John A. Nace, Jr.

September 7, 1949 — September 6, 2025

Lewisberry, PA

John A. Nace, Jr., 75, of Lewisberry, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025—one day shy of his 76th birthday. He was born in Harrisburg to John A. Nace, Sr., and the late Margaret L. (Shadow) Nace.

A graduate of Red Land High School (’68), he entered the U.S. Navy Reserve before transitioning to active duty, serving in Vietnam and later being stationed in Hawaii. After his service, he began a career in trucking—first with Hall’s and then Transcon on the Carlisle Pike. He spent the next 38 years as a dispatcher with ABF Freight System in Carlisle.

John met his future wife soon after high school, marrying young and building a family together. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. Campgrounds like Frontier Town in Maryland and Western Village in Carlisle were favorites—though, in truth, any campsite was a good one if family was there. He was a talented drummer, playing in a band when he was younger, and his social schedule in recent years included time spent at American Legion Post 974, “The Swamp,” where he was a longtime member. His quiet strength will be deeply missed.

Surviving John are his sons, Mike Nace (wife, Hope) of New Cumberland and Bob Nace of Lewisberry; six grandchildren, Tyler, Trinity, Bree, Bryce, Makayla and Gabby; his father, John Nace, Sr.; and a brother, Kenny Nace. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death his loving wife, Linda (Weaver) Nace; two brothers, Steve Nace and Jeff Nace; and a sister, Carol Barlup.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
