Joseph L. Hawthorne

February 5, 1944 — April 14, 2022

Joseph L. Hawthorne, 78, of New Cumberland died Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home.

A Marine Corps Veteran, he was a retired steel worker from Bethlehem Steel. A graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed meticulously maintaining his yard on his favorite lawn tractor.

He was born February 5, 1944 in Harrisburg to the late Russell Wilbur and Myrtle Catherine (Oatman) Hawthorne.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene F. Orsinger; son, Joseph Hawthorne, Jr. of DE; daughter, Tina Aldridge (Robert) of Lebanon; step-son, Brian Orsinger (Jo) of New Cumberland; sister, Ruth Zeigler of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Matthew, Brianna, Andrew, and Aaron; and eight greatgrandchildren.

Interment services with Military Honors will be held at 3pm Monday, April 25, 2022 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
