Joyce Marlene Karash, 90, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, with her family by her side. Born on August 25, 1935, in Marion, Ohio to the late James and Olive Williams. Joyce lived a rich and vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and a deep passion for the performing arts.
A proud graduate of Harding High School in Marion, Ohio, Class of '53, Joyce ventured into diverse career paths. She attended flight attendant school and obtained her real estate license but spent much of her career serving the federal government. Starting as a typist, she rose to become a Supervisor (GS11) at the New Cumberland Army Depot, where she worked alongside her ex-husband. Her career was filled with dedication and a strong work ethic that inspired many.
Joyce was a dynamic participant in her community and a founding member of the New Cumberland Girls' Softball League. Her love for the arts brought her joy as she became actively involved with MiShare Productions, where she performed in murder mysteries, and the Little Theater of Mechanicsburg, as well as other local theater groups. She cherished every moment performing and meeting those who shared her passion for creativity.
A devoted member of Trinity Church since 1971, Joyce found solace in her faith and community. A true Ohio native, she was an unwavering fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. But most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who will be profoundly missed but remembered fondly. Surviving are her children; Ethel Stanley of Evanston, IL; Frederick Karash of Erie; Ella J. Karash of Erie; Karen Lee Mauger (Donald "Ben" Mauger) of New Cumberland; and Lori Kay Barton of Palmyra. She leaves behind a legacy of love with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Anxiously awaiting her arrival are her parents and her great-grandson, Chase Allen Radle, her son-in-law, Keith Stanley, and her daughter, Agnes Karash.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4 PM - 5 PM at Parthemore Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
