Kathleen C. "Kathy" Kauffman

Kathleen C. “Kathy” Kauffman, 70, of Newberry Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp.

Kathy’s most important occupation in her life was to create a loving home and raise her children.  Kathy was welcoming to family, friends, and anyone in need, treating them like family.  Prior to having children, Kathy was a teller with Southern Pennsylvania Bank, Fishing Creek Branch. While her children were in school, she was a tireless volunteer at Newberry Elementary School serving as PTO President and helping in the classroom in any way that was needed. She also served the community for many years as an active volunteer with the Red Land Food Bank, Lewisberry. When her youngest child was through elementary school, she went to work as an Administrative Assistant with Lincoln Financial, Lewisberry from which she retired in 2019. Kathy was a Girl Scout leader for many years, Chair of North Hills Neighborhood, and served on the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council Executive Board and Archive Committee. For her work with Girl Scouts, Kathy received the Thanks Badge and Friendship Medal, the highest awards given to volunteers. While her sons were in Cub Scouts, Kathy served as a Webelos Den Leader.

Where Kathy’s commitment and love of God shined through the most was her involvement with her church.  At Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewisberry, she was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, Vacation Bible School teacher, president of the church’s women’s group, treasurer of the Women of the ELCA – Lower Susquehanna Synod, and led weekly women’s bible study every Wednesday for the past 16 years. She was always happy to take on anything else that needed done or that anyone asked of her.

Kathy was born in Mobile, AL, the daughter of the late Donald and Frances (Daggett) Crozier.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 46 years, Steven R. Kauffman; children, Zachary A. Kauffman and wife Angela of York Haven, Jeremy R. Kauffman and wife Christy of Lewisberry and Kira L. Kauffman of Camp Hill; siblings, Diane Brown of Jacksonville, FL, Jeffery Crozier of Crestview, FL, Kevin Crozier of Camino, CA, Susan Bethea of Montgomery, AL and Donald Crozier II of Carson City, NV; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Joel, Jude and Silas Kauffman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 4, 2023 in her church, Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 863 Lewisberry Rd. Lewisberry, PA 17339 with Rev. Kevin Stout officiating and Rev. Allen Schwarz assisting.  Visitation with the family will be two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 PM in the church.
