Kathleen A. Miller, 74, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Floyde and Esther (Houtz) Mulligan, born on January 31, 1952, in Mechanicsburg.
A 1970 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Kathy would go on to dedicate her professional life to administrative work, serving as a secretary and office administrator for many years at various locations like the Jewish Community Center and Pomeroy’s and later working as a legal secretary. She spent the final chapter of her career with Highmark—a job she truly enjoyed. She retired in 2016.
Kathy was a longtime and devoted member of Baughman Church in New Cumberland, where she was involved with the Women in Christ group, and previously served on various church committees and taught Sunday School classes.
In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing and bowling, and had a lifelong joy in cross-stitching and gardening. She was an avid Penn State football fan and rarely missed a televised game.
She met her late husband, Gary, in 1985 at a bowling alley and were in the same league —a chance meeting that would lead to a lasting partnership. Gary would be a top-player, traveling to many competitions, while Kathy was happy to join along and often be an alternate on the team. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, and they welcomed their daughter, Lexie, through an international adoption in December 1994.
She also enjoyed traveling and had especially fond memories of her time in Germany, Austria, China and a cruise to the Caribbean. The family took many vacations to the Boston-area, Baltimore, and various historical landmarks on the east coast.
Kathy faced breast cancer in 2013 and became a proud survivor following a surgery and several rounds of radiation.
Though quiet at times, she had a gentle warmth that shone brightest in the presence of her family. In recent years, she especially cherished her role as “Nana” to her living grandchildren, Beau and Sunny, who brought her immense joy and happiness. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, but there is comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
Surviving Kathy are her daughter and son-in-law, Alexandra “Lexie” and Matthew Schlegel of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Beau and Sunny Schlegel; a sister, Elizabeth Haker; nephew, Chirstopher Haker; and several great nephews and nieces, cousins, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Miller; her first five grandchildren, Samuel, Gloriana, Harper, Simon, and Caleb; a sister, Madeline Cone; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Gregory Cone and Khalil Haker; and a nephew and niece, Jason Cone and Aliya Cone.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Baughman Church of New Cumberland from 10:30AM until a funeral service begins at 12PM. Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Baughman Church in her memory.
