Kathryn Matteson, 89, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29th, 2025. Born on September 27th, 1936, to the late Maude Matteson (Lyman) and McClure Matteson in Schenectady, New York, Kathryn was a loving soul and cherished by many.
Kathryn was a woman of strong faith and kindness. She was an active member of Bible Baptist Church of Shiremanstown, where she deeply valued worship, fellowship, and the friendships she formed. Her church family meant a great deal to her, and she enjoyed taking part in many church activities.
She was also a member of the Depot Women’s Club and loved spending time with friends. Kathryn enjoyed dining out, bowling, and going to the beach with her close friends known as the “Beach Ladies,” including Estella, Tina, and Helen. She found happiness in everyday moments, especially time spent with others. She dearly loved her cat, Buddy, and never lost her fondness for her favorite comfort food, mashed potatoes and gravy.
Kathryn shared a special bond with Sherry Clouser, who was always like a daughter to her. She also held the Sinsabaugh family close to her heart. Her life was filled with meaningful friendships, and she will be remembered for her gentle spirit, caring nature, and steady presence.
Kathryn is survived by her nieces, Lisa (William) Harrison and Diana Estelle Matteson; her sister-in-law, Estella Ann Burt Matteson; four grandnephews, Joshua, Jesse, Noah, and Gabriel; and her great-great niece and nephew, Grace and Jacob.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, McClure Clair Matteson Jr., and her niece, Lori Ann Matteson.
A public viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2nd, at Bible Baptist Church of Shiremanstown, followed by a public funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church of Shiremanstown.
Kathryn will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her, and her faith, kindness, and friendships will not be forgotten.
