Kenneth B. Taylor (Ken), age 98, of Messiah Lifeways passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Messiah.

Ken was born in Lemoyne on September 27, 1927. He moved to a rural area of Lewisberry where he completed 8 grades of elementary in a one room school, known as “Red Land”. He then graduated from New Cumberland High School in 1945.

In the year 1946, he enlisted in the US Army and spent part of the years 1946 and 1947 in Korea.

After his Army Service he returned to Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Ken used the GI Bill of Rights to attend night school and graduated from the Thompson Business College.

In the year 1955 he began a career in real estate and later opened “Ken Taylor Real Estate Agency”. He was a member of the American Institute of Real Estate and Society of Real Estate Appraisers where he earned designation of R.M. and S.R.A. Ken then expanded his services to include Residential Real Estate Appraisals.

In the year 1962 he closed his Real Estate Agency and joined the Harris Building & Loans to do their appraisals of existing homes and homes to be built.

He retired in 1989 and for the next 30 years he and his wife would spend their winters in Lakeland, Florida – “Snowbirds”.

Ken and his family were residents of New Cumberland for many years. He and his wife, Jean, moved to their cottage in Messiah Village in 2000.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over 80 years where he served his church in numerous ways for many years.

Ken is survived by his son, Michael (Stephanie) Taylor; son-in-law Kenneth M Hawley, 3 granddaughters, Kimberly, Ariana, and Celeste; 1 grandson, Steven; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary (Bishop) Taylor; his beloved wife, Jean; his daughter, Judy Hawley; his sister, Mary Marsella, and brother, Arthur.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Messiah Lifeways Upper Laurel neighborhood and Homeland Hospice for the care and compassion they provided to Ken.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will take place in Rolling Green Cemetery at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Paul Evengelical Church, 530 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070 or Messiah Lifeways Endowment Fund, 100 Mt Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
