Khamtanh Bouasanouvong Kounlavong

Khamtanh (Bouasanouvong) Kounlavong, 75, passed away on December 11, 2025. Born in Savannakhet, Laos, she immigrated to the United States in 1979 with her husband, building a home and family as she adapted to a new country.

Khamtanh was known for her toughness and fierce independence. She was stubborn, determined, and resolute in the way she moved through the world. After the loss of her husband, Frederick, in 2008, she continued forward in her own steady way. She showed care through action, particularly through cooking for others, and found enjoyment in tending her garden.

She is survived by her daughters, Keo Oura Kounlavong-Sabath and Yenma Herb; her son-in-law, Ryan Herb; her son, Steven Kounlavong; and her grandson, Henry Sabath.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, services will be private, and they ask that no flowers be sent.
