Kristen Sims, 48, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by her friends and family.

A 1996 graduate of Trinity High School, she attended HACC before earning her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 2004. She worked as an Audit Manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Kristen had a passion for travel and loved visiting different countries, as well as cruising aboard Disney ships. She was a devoted Dave Matthews fan and deeply loved his music. She was also a dedicated Penn State football fan, holding season tickets and never missing a game. She enjoyed reading novels by Stephen King and Dan Brown. Above all, she was a devoted mother and a loyal friend. She was the kind of person you could always count on - steadfast, caring, and selfless - always putting others before herself. She was always there when she was needed, never hesitating to offer her love and support. The kindness she shared so freely will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Born November 6, 1977, in Camp Hill, she was preceded in death by her father, Harold Sims, and her brother, Daniel Sims.

She is survived by her mother, Adele Sims of New Cumberland; her daughters, Kaitlyn Railer of New Cumberland and Kylee Harner of Orlando, Florida; her sister, Jaime Harner of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; her aunts, Mary Lou Kocher and Kathy Karasinski-Lipovsky; her uncle, Adam Karasinski; and her cousins, Amanda Oley, Kenny Kocher Jr., Christine Funk, Stephanie Warakomski, and Elizabeth Lipovsky.

A celebration of Kristen’s life will be held at a future date. Please refer back to this obituary for updates.
