Lawrence Frederick "Larry" Barth, 76, of Halifax, PA, died on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Harrisburg Hospital after battling pancreatic cancer.
He was born April 11, 1949, to Lester and Elinore (Loewenstein) Barth in Physicians Hospital, Queens, NY.
Larry attended Ohio University where he received a B.S. degree in Journalism. He later attended Cleveland State University where he received his Juris Doctor.
Larry started his career working for several newspapers as a reporter and editor. He later worked as press secretary to an Ohio State Representative. He was attracted to public utility law and became an attorney for the Ohio Office of the Consumers’ Counsel. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1988 where he would work and retire as an attorney for the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
Larry was a generous and kind man who loved dogs and the outdoors. He had many dogs throughout his life and was deeply devoted to each and every one. He leaves behind his beloved dachshund, Honey, who kindled fond memories of his childhood pet dachshund, Pokey. In retirement, he kept his law license current by taking courses on dog law to learn as much as he could. Larry was a voracious reader who never stopped learning.
Larry is survived by his loving brother, Frederick Barth of Colorado, and the numerous friends and colleagues whose lives he enriched.
A memorial service will begin at 1PM on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with a time of visitation with friends and family extending until 3PM at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to any of the following organizations Larry ardently supported: Central PA Food Bank, Hillside S.P.C.A., or the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area.
