Lora “Kay Bird” Bogdan, 85, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born on October 13, 1939, in Knoxville, TN, to the late James Leonard and Carolyn (Miracle) Bingham.
Kay graduated from Pineville High School in Pineville, KY, and would go on to attend Eastern Kentucky University.
Most knew Kay as the friendly bartender at the American Legion Post 143 in New Cumberland, where she served drinks with a smile and a joke. She loved shooting pool, bowling, playing bingo, and cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Eagles. The beach was her favorite place to relax, but it was time with family and friends that brought her the greatest joy. She was deeply proud of her grandchildren and loved them beyond words. Kay was truly one-of-a-kind, and her independent, feisty spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Jody G. Bingham (Valeria) of Pineville, KY, and Robert A. Bogdan, Jr. (Amy) of New Cumberland; a brother, James L. Bingham (Frances) of GA; grandchildren, Aaron M., Ryan A., and Preston J. Bogdan; nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Bingham.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in the future. Please continue to monitor Kay’s obituary page for updated service information.
