Mario D. Pirritano, 85 of Camp Hill passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.
A National Guard Veteran, he retired as Deputy Secretary of Safety Administration from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Previous positions held include: Director for The Bureau of Management Services, Director of the PA Management Assistance Team, Chief of the Division of School Accounting all within the PA Dept. of Education. He attended Mansfield University and was a graduate of Cherry Township High School in Mildred, PA. After retiring from state government service, he served as the Fairview Township representative to the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority. He was elected to the Fairview Township Board of Supervisors and served his fellow citizens and community members for 26.5 years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and landscaping within his backyard oasis. He loved the natural beauty and wildlife of Sullivan County, where he was born. He was an avid fan of the world's fastest sport on ice – ice hockey and lived to see his favorite team, the Washington Capitals, win the 2018 Stanley Cup; and 3 Gold medals by Team USA Men's Hockey.
He was born November 17, 1940 in Mildred, PA to the late Frank and Maria (Piperno) Pirritano. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Alan Pirritano; sister, Isabella E. Thompson; and brothers, Roy and Gennaro Pirritano.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. (Batchelder) Pirritano; sons, Mark A. Pirritano of Italy and Chris M. Pirritano of Camp Hill; and four grandchildren, Aimee, Brandon, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Pirritano, and Morgan A. Blenker.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30am Saturday, May 30th at Parthemore Funeral Home New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
