Mary E. (Clipp) Mercurio Snyder, 88, of Lemoyne, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born in Harrisburg on November 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Elma (Baker) Clipp.
A 1954 graduate of West Shore High School in Lemoyne, Mary would remain in Central PA all her life. She was an accomplished pianist and organist, playing for more than 65 years at weddings, funerals and other special events. She was also a longtime organist for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on Hummel Avenue in Lemoyne, where she was also a member.
She worked as an administrative assistant for Dougherty & Twigg Real Estate Agency and Jack Gaughen Realtor for nearly 20 years. She raised two boys before meeting her second husband, Dick, and Mary always thought of his kids as her “bonus family.” Not one to stay still for long, she took up employment with Glenn Miller’s Meats & Deli, Lemoyne, working for 10 years as a cashier. She was talented in the kitchen, making the world’s best apple dumplings and pies.
Mary still enjoyed getting together regularly with her fellow high school classmates and her ever present sense of humor would always make you smile. If she promised you something, she took the necessary steps to keep her word. And in a loving way, she mentioned more than once…”If you didn’t bother with me while I was alive, then don’t come see me when I’m dead.”
Surviving Mary is her son, Christopher L. Mercurio, granddaughter, Jennifer E. Mercurio Doran (Michael), grandsons, Christopher L. Mercurio II and Zachary Ream, great-grandson Christopher M. Doran, daughters-in-law, Martha Mercurio (Jack) and Marcia Mercurio; and nieces and nephew Joann, Robbie and Jami. Also, her “bonus” children Richard M. “Rich” Snyder (Joann), Stanley T. Snyder (Molly) and Steven D. Snyder (Robin); her “bonus” grandkids, David, Jeffrey, Stosh, Marshall, Lindsey, Kelly, Farren, Bryan, Christine and Allison, and 18 “bonus” great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, S. Frank Mercurio and Richard M. “Dick” Snyder; a son, Frank E. Mercurio; and a brother, Robert E. Clipp.
We will celebrate Mary with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
