Maurice "Marty" Johnson, 77, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 28, 2024 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born September 19, 1946 in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late Addison, Jr. and Regina (Esworthy) Johnson. He spent the first 17 years of his life playing pranks on his siblings and developing the stories he would tell his family about Regina's discipline "techniques" for years to come. He spent his teen years terrorizing the teachers at Cedar Cliff High School and made lasting friendships that have been passed along to spouses and children. Marty proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war - he loved to wear his veteran hat. He eventually met Candace "Candy" Warner, he loved her so much that he married her twice. The second marriage, resulting in their daughter, Casey (Johnson) Welsh. Marty and Candy were the dedicated owners of Your Crowning Glory hair and beauty salon in Wormleysburg, PA for 40+ years. In recent years, Marty had taken up model ship collecting and found enjoyment in planning his 60th class reunion from Cedar Cliff High School.
Marty is survived by the love of his life, Candace "Candy" Johnson; daughter and pride and joy, Casey (Michael) Johnson-Welsh; two grandsons of whom he was immensely proud, Lt. Michael V. Welsh and Lucas Welsh; two sisters, Ann Tingle and Kay (Richard) Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Addison Johnson, III and very recently, a brother-in-law, James Tingle.
A viewing will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 6-7 PM at the Parthemore Funeral Home. Pastor Faye Snyder will officiate the funeral on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11 AM at the Parthemore Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
