Michael S. Kyler

Michael Stephen Kyler, 77, of Mechanicsburg passed peacefully Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Michael graduated from Donegal High School, where he excelled in football. He later attended Highland College and graduated with an Associate’s in History. He went on to work at Mars in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, where he retired after over 40 years. Michael loved spending time with his family and close friends. He was an avid traveler, and enjoyed camping (tenting and later RVing), hiking, and kayaking in state and national parks, most often with his late wife Kay, along with his son Rhett and daughter-in-law, Shaunna. Michael was a fantastic cook and loved preparing dishes on request and ensuring leftovers were plentiful. His love of watching Penn State football with friends, family gatherings, and long Sunday visits with his grandson, Everett, filled his free time later in life. Above all, Michael lived a life defined by selflessness, deep compassion, and care for his loved ones and those in need.

He was born February 17, 1949 in Columbia, Pennsylvania to the late John McKain and Helen Elizabeth (Papageorge) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his most deeply loved wife, Kay Baker. He is survived by son, Rhett Baker and his wife Shaunna; his cherished grandson Everett; his siblings including sister Patricia McKinsey (Colin), brother John Kyler (Joan), brother Louis Kyler (Karen), sister Christine Weinberg (William), brother Gerald Smith (Sheila), sister Cheryl Lathrop (Robert, deceased), brother Brian Smith (Katy); his many nieces and nephews; and best friend Kenneth Smith Jr.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 11am-12pm at Parthemore Funeral Home with a funeral service commencing at 12pm. Interment will follow immediately at Rolling Green Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
