Nancy J. Kauffman, 88, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on March 1, 2026. Born on October 6, 1937, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Norman and Margaret (Gillen) Brandt. Nancy lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.
A proud resident of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Nancy worked as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone and in the transportation department as a Notary at Amp Inc. Yet her true legacy lies not just in her career but in the joyous moments shared with her loved ones. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family, particularly during the holidays, often delighting everyone with her cherished PA Dutch style recipes.
Nancy's love for games drew her friends and family together as she enthusiastically played Pinochle with those she cared about. As a proud member of the Red Hat Society and the "Lunch Bunch," she enjoyed every gathering, creating lasting memories with her circle of friends. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and she found community and solace at Grace United Methodist Church in Lemoyne.
She was involved in the lives of her children, providing unwavering love, support, and guidance. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel, especially to Florida, where she enjoyed soaking up the sun with her late husband, Norman in the winters. Above all, Nancy cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, Nikolas, Sarah, Garrett, Logan and Hannah who brought her immense joy and pride.
Nancy is survived by her devoted son, Rick Kauffman, her loving daughter, Wendy (Keith) Polito and her five beloved grandchildren, Nikolas, Sarah, and Garrett Kauffman, Logan and Hannah Fouts. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Norman Kauffman; a daughter, Christine Fouts; two brothers, and four sisters.
The family will hold a private memorial in her honor. Interment in St. John's Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Nancy's name to the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc. in Dillsburg.
