Nicholas G. Dellarciprete

Retired Lt. Col. Nicholas G. Dellarciprete of the Pennsylvania State Police, 90, of Wormleysburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at UPMC West Shore Hospital. Born on July 30, 1936, in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Philip and Helen (Marsicano) Dellarciprete.

A graduate of Hazleton High School, Nick seemed naturally suited for a life in law enforcement. Level-headed, fair and honest, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police with a desire to serve others. While training at the academy, he felt an additional call to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following basic training, he spent the remainder of his two years of active duty at the United States Military Academy at West Point, serving as a military policeman.

Nick transitioned to the Army Reserve so he could return to the State Police, where he would spend the next 32 years. During this time, he also attended nigh school at Elizabethtown College, where he would earn a bachelor's degree. He steadily rose through the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel and twice served as acting commissioner during prolonged vacancies. Even retirement couldn't bring his life of service to an end; Nick went on to serve as law enforcement coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

A lifelong Catholic, Nick lived his Christian values through his actions—quietly helping others, treating people fairly and doing what he believed was right. A longtime Wormleysburg resident, he belonged to Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill before becoming a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

For all he accomplished professionally, Nick's greatest devotion was to his family. Despite the demands of his career, he was a present and supportive husband and father who could always be counted on for a helping hand, sound advice or encouragement. He was the family’s Mr. Fix-it, enjoyed gardening and maintaining his property, and, while the children were young, made annual vacations to Ocean City, Maryland, a priority. Later, he and Sandy enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and becoming a grandfather brought him tremendous joy.

Nick had a gift for recognizing when someone needed help. Family, friends and neighbors knew him as someone they could depend on—patient, practical and steady in any situation. He spent his life showing up for others and quietly living the values he held dear. For that, and for so many other reasons, Nick will be deeply missed.

Surviving Nicholas is his wife of 64 years, Sandra (Mehalik) Dellarciprete; a daughter, Donna Dellarciprete of Elizabethtown; a son, Nick Dellarciprete and his wife, Angela (Salinger) Dellarciprete, of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Alex Dellarciprete, Hanna Dellarciprete, Billy O’Connell and Paige O’Connell; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Dellarciprete; and sister, Marie Yanac.

Public viewings will be held from 6-8PM on Thursday, August 27, and 9:30-10:30AM on Friday, August 28, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM on Friday, August 28, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland (located directly across the street from the funeral home). Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
