Paula Jane Paxton, 87, of Harrisburg, formerly of Etters via Aliquippa, died Thursday, June 19, 2025 at her home.
She was born August 17, 1937 in Aliquippa, PA to the late Clarence and Anna (Sebring) Glovier.
A 1955 graduate of Aliquippa High School, she sang her alma mater and football fight song routinely as a matter of pride. She loved anything, and everything Aliquippa. She was a retired bookkeeper from PSECU. Other work experience included G.C. Murphy’s, J&L Service Department Credit Union, and Friendly Federal Credit Union.
She loved the Lord and was saved in the early 1980’s. She loved to praise the Lord and she worshiped him faithfully. She hosted a weekly Bible study group for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed attending online church services and listening to Dr. Charles Stanley every day.
She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She loved her three boys with all her heart and never missed a little league game. She was a devoted friend to all that knew her. DeAnna Ross and Margie Smego were her lifelong BFF’s.
She loved to entertain. She hosted the family’s annual Christmas Eve party. We could always count on receiving Black Suede cologne from her as a gift. She was the life of the party and could do the twist like a pro!
She enjoyed cooking and eating. Her specialties included making homemade sauce with fresh noodles or gnocchi’s, or pierogis (even the sauerkraut ones).
She had a deep appreciation for 50’s rock-n-roll with the Platters being her favorite music group of all time. She loved singing along to gospel music and hymns.
She loved counting other people’s money and worked at credit unions her entire life, except for a brief time at her favorite department store, the G.C. Murphy Company.
She loved to love. One of her constant and favorite questions was asking…how much do you love me? And you better answer, A BUSHEL AND A PECK AND A HUG AROUND THE NECK.
She loved to look good. Paula eagerly anticipated her monthly hair appointments with her Lisa (Kuzmiak) and her nail appointments at local salons. Her fashion sense was second to none. She loved shopping at Hill’s and Boscov’s for stylish duds. We called her the ALIQUIPPA BARBIE.
The Aliquippa Quips and the Pittsburgh Steelers were her favs. On Sunday’s she would serenade us with HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO, and of course, we all know and love the Aliquippa Fight Song. She loved to play card games with “The Girls” (her co-workers from PSECU). Her 500 Rummy games were legendary.
Paula was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Paxton; and siblings, LaRue Shaffer, Bud Glovier, Byron Glovier, Dick Glovier, JoAnne Walker, and Bob Glovier.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Paxton (Janette) of Harrisburg, Scott Paxton (Mary) of Honey Grove, and Christopher Paxton (Christine) of New Cumberland; six grandchildren, Jarrett, Mark, Sean, Miranda, Rebecca, and MacKenzie; a great-granddaughter, Riverly (Miranda); her sister, Peggy Ludwico (Eugene), Sunnyvale, CA and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at the Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland with details to be announced soon. Private interment will take place at Emanuel Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
