September 23, 1927 — March 31, 2026

Camp Hill

Philip R. Murray, 98, of Camp Hill, PA died peacefully at his home Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Phil was born in Honesdale on September 23, 1927 to Philip R. and Margaret (Rose) Murray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian M. (Roe) Murray; grandson, Zachary; daughters-in-law, Mary Kate and Aiko; and siblings, Clara, John, Peggy and George.

A 1946 graduate of Honesdale High School, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. For many years Phil was an employee of Murray Company, Honesdale. He and Marian relocated to Camp Hill where he worked for the Department of Defense at the former New Cumberland Army Depot. Philip was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Family was important to Phil. He enjoyed researching his genealogy and sharing family stories. A great conversationalist, he also loved to connect with others and learn their stories. Phil instilled a love of canoeing and hiking in his children and took pleasure in hearing about their outdoor pursuits. In later years, his favorite outdoor pursuit was a car ride through the countryside. Always one to keep up with technology, Phil used it as one more way to stay connected with others. He kept in touch with friends and family through email and competitively playing the game Words with Friends.

Phil is survived by his children, Margaret Dein of Cocoa Beach, FL, John Murray (Mariam) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Charles Murray of Stockbridge, MA, and Philip Murray (Bernadette) of Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren, Adam, Michelle, Joseph, Stephen, Sophia, Thorstein, and Erica; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Olivia, Cora, and Eliza; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill on Monday, April 6th at 11 am. Visitation will precede the mass beginning at 10 am. Committal will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express appreciation to the patient and kind caregivers at Messiah Lifeways, the extraordinary visiting Eucharistic Minister from Good Shepherd, and UPMC Fisher Road for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, https://thegoodshep.org/ or West Shore Meals on Wheels, https://mowwestshore.com/
