Ray E. “Rick” Danner, 74, of Enola, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Born on November 18, 1951, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Orvin and Anne (Schindler) Danner.
Rick, a 1969 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill, spent his entire life in the mid-state. Professionally, he spent a majority of his working years as manager of Weis Markets in Harrisburg—a job he truly enjoyed.
He met his future wife, Linda, at a horse boarding barn, and the two were inseparable from the start. Their shared love of horses led to many years of riding together, and in their younger days, they also enjoyed bowling in leagues. A phenomenal cook, Rick happily took charge in the kitchen. Though an avid hunter, he made one notable exception—marrying Linda during hunting season—though many anniversaries were still spent in the woods.
At times a bit stubborn, Rick was, at his core, kind, gentle, and deeply generous. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He never hesitated to travel to Tennessee or West Virginia to cheer them on at their sporting events. Proud in all the right ways, his faith in God was evident throughout his life.
Surviving Rick is his wife of 51 years, Linda (Freeland) Danner; his children, Christopher Allan Danner, Melissa Anne Danner, and Matthew Eugene Danner, Sr. (Crystal); grandchildren, Matthew, Jr. (Julie), McKayla, Dakota, Chloe, and Chloe’s brother, Logan; great-grandson, Michael Eugene; siblings, Orvin “Skip” Danner II, Judy Sipe, and Marsha Sipe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Shirley, Emily, Ethel, Danny and Sondra.
A public viewing will be held from 11AM until 1PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A funeral service will begin at 1PM followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Rick’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
