Steelton

Raymond P. LaMay Jr., known affectionately as Scoot, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on March 25, 1964, Ray spent his life in Steelton, Pennsylvania, where he became a familiar face, a steady presence, and a source of laughter and comfort to everyone blessed to know him.

Ray was the son of Randy (Beth) LaMay Sr. and the late Betty LaMay. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Melissa “Missy” Swartz. From a young age, Ray carried a strong work ethic and a generous heart. He spent most of his life as a truck driver, a role that reflected his reliability and dedication. In the last few years, Ray proudly built his own lawn care business, work he truly enjoyed. Being outdoors, helping people, and putting his hands to good use brought him a sense of purpose and pride.

At home, Ray found joy in the simple, meaningful moments. He loved going for walks with his dog, often joined by his loyal cat trotting along beside them—a little parade that brought smiles to neighbors and friends. Ray had a natural gift for lifting spirits. He was the light of the party, the one who could turn a tough day around with a joke, a story, or a warm smile. If someone needed help, Ray was already there, offering a hand without hesitation.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Jamie LaMay, who was his partner, friend, and constant support and steady presence through every season of life. He leaves behind his children, who were the pride of his life: Kayse LaMay of New Cumberland, Michael LaMay of Lewisberry, and Stephanie LaMay of Mechanicsburg.

Ray was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great‑granddaughter, all of whom brought him endless joy. He is further survived by his sisters, Julie Shirley of Enola, and her husband Paul, and Kelly Mundie of Millersburg, and her husband Jerry, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

To know Ray was to know kindness, humor, and a heart that never stopped giving. His legacy lives on in the smiles he sparked, the people he helped, and the love he poured into his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
