Richard H. Strawser

November 11, 1942 — September 25, 2025

Hummelstown, PA

Richard H. Strawser, 82, of Hummelstown, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born on November 11, 1942, in Sunbury, he was the son of the late Frank and Carrie (Cope) Strawser.

A 1961 graduate of East Juniata High School, Richard remained in Juniata County until his mid-twenties before settling in the suburban Harrisburg area. He first worked in sales, spending a few years selling knives in local malls, before pursuing a career in construction. Most of his working years were with Kinsley Construction as a highway worker.

Richard enjoyed the simple things in life, such as hunting, mowing his lawn, gardening, and spending time with his fiancée, Anita. Together, they were longtime members of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill, and they enjoyed traveling. As a couple, they would visit Anita's family in North Carolina, and they went on two Alaskan fishing excursions. But Richard's love for fish went beyond a rod and tackle box—he took pride in keeping his pond well-stocked and enjoyed caring for his little aquatic friends in his fish tank. Remembered for his steady presence and easy-going spirit, Richard will be deeply missed.

Surviving Richard is his fiancée of 18 years, Anita S. Davis; two daughters, Tonya L. Shrauder and Janine L. Miller; siblings, Leonard, Kay, Violet and Doris; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Wayne, Charles, Lillian, James, Donald, Betty and an infant sister.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
