Richard T. “Ski” Skonezney, 85, formerly of New Cumberland, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He retired as a draftsman from Sheladia Associates at their former Camp Hill office. Ski was a U.S Army Veteran and a member of the Air National Guard. He was a member of Riverview Golf Club, New Cumberland, the American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415, both of New Cumberland, West Shore Chapter PA Sports Hall of Fame, Mechanicsburg Club and the Fifth Ward Republican Club, Steelton. He was a former member of the Mechanicsburg Twilight Baseball team and the West Shore Twilight League for over 25 years. Ski was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh professional sports teams.
Born October 24, 1936, in Dunbar to the late Walter H. and Rachel E. (Bricker) Skonezney. He was the widower of Dorothy J. (Ausbun) Skonezney. Richard was also preceded in death by a sister Kathryn Robbins and a brother, Walter Skonezney Jr.
Surviving are a son and his wife, James R. and Vicki J. Skonezney of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Deborah R. Skonezney of Harrisburg; two granddaughters, Amanda (Peter) and Lauren; two great grandsons, Declan and Nolan; two sisters, Linda Dusold of Portersville and Shirley Fuse of Freedom; a brother, Kenneth Skonezney of Freedom; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at the Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held 10 – 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home.
