Richard Dann Zink, 75, of Enola, PA, passed away on April 8, 2026. Born on October 12, 1950, in Harrisburg, PA, to the late Jack and Elsie (Gunderman) Zink.
Richard spent his life as a devoted railroad engineer, cultivating a passion for trains that carried him on exciting journeys both professionally and personally. After serving three years of active duty in the Air Force, Richard continued to serve in both the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves for nearly thirty years.
Richard was a proud member of Good Samaritan Masonic Lodge #336 in Gettysburg. His commitment to community service extended beyond the lodge, as he was also involved with the North Harrisburg Legion and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. His love for steam engines and railroads flourished in his volunteer work at the Strasburg and East Broadtop Railroads and museums.
Richard’s enthusiasm for life was matched only by his love of music; as a drummer and connoisseur, he found joy in the melodies that would accompany his adventures. Richard was also a talented artist, able to draw humorous cartoons, detailed steam locomotives, and just about anything he could dream up.
Richard leaves behind a son, Stephen (Helen Fischman) Zink; daughters, Heidi (Eric Martin) Young and Erin (Marc Creque) Zink; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Caldwell. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by two brothers, John and Larry Zink.
Burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:30 AM accompanied by military honors and Masonic services.
