Robert Barry Brandow

July 19, 1952 — April 10, 2026

Carlisle

Robert Barry Brandow passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, in Carlisle, PA. Rob was born July 19, 1952, in West Chester, PA, and lived there until his health prompted a move closer to family. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Floyd Brandow, and his mother, Beatrice Boyer Brandow. He is survived by his younger brother, Rick (Carolyn) of Carlisle, PA, his niece, Rebecca Brandow of Boiling Springs, PA, and his nephew, William Brandow (Taylor) of Carlisle, PA.

Rob, also known as “Moose”, attended Henderson High School in West Chester and retired from Deluxe Check Printing in Paoli. He owned a check-cashing business in Reading, PA and later drove a Philadelphia airport shuttle for Rainbow Cab.

After retirement Rob discovered a love for reading and catalogued the books on Good Reads-enjoying the community of fellow readers and their reviews and comments.

Rob loved music of all kinds and especially enjoyed live music events. In retirement Rob digitalized his extensive music collection and enjoyed creating themed playlists for family gatherings including: “Classic Rock Anthems every teen should know”, “Songs only Rick likes” (Cat Stevens, John Denver, Monkees), “Songs from concerts I saw live”. He also taped outstanding televised musical performances to “educate” his family during weekly dinners. Blessed with a near encyclopedic memory for songs, Rob delighted in teasing his brother by asking him to name the song or the singer.

Rob was passionate and often loud about sports-which he defined as “only games played with balls”. He followed Villanova basketball, the Sixers, the Eagles and especially his beloved Phillies. He remembered taking public transportation from West Chester for one dollar as a 12-year-old to see Phillies’ games at Connie Mac stadium. Rob’s family will miss him announcing the “countdown to pitchers and catchers” (training camp) each winter. He was watching The Master’s golf tournament and appreciating the springtime beauty of that event the week he died.

Rob loved holiday celebrations, decorations, and Brandow family traditions-especially those surrounding special foods! He was a devoted brother, uncle and son and his family takes comfort that he is freed from any discomfort and reunited with his heavenly family.

Rob will be interred at Philadelphia Memorial Park with graveside services at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the West Chester Public Library at 415 N. Church St. West Chester, PA 19380 and/or the Brandywine Valley SPCA at 1212 Phoenixville Pike West Chester, PA 19380.
