The Markel family moved to Central PA in 1968 when Bob joined Capital Blue Cross, where he held several positions over a period of 35 years until retiring as Executive Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. During his career he also served on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer for the Harrisburg Chapter of the American Red Cross and also on several United Way Allocation Committees.

He and Pat were blessed to be able to take many trips with new and old friends both in the US and abroad.
