Robert A. Shultz

August 15, 1933 — July 2, 2024

New Cumberland, PA

Robert A. Shultz, 90, of New Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at his residence. He was the son of the late Ralph and Myrl (Artley) Shultz, born on August 15, 1933, in Harrisburg. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra “Sandy” Shultz.

Robert was a 1953 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School and would go on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He began his professional career as an accountant for Buttorff & Company Furniture, New Cumberland, before going on to work for the Commonwealth of PA. He was an Automotive Specification Writer with the PA Department of General Services, Harrisburg, retiring after two decades of service.

He was a skilled golfer, playing more rounds at Valley Green Golf Course, Etters, than anywhere else. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Robert also enjoyed poker, whether it was around the kitchen table with his family or late-night sessions where he happily took his buddies’ money. He and his late wife, Sandy, enjoyed the outdoors in their pop-up camper as much as possible.

A die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, his TV was regularly tuned to the Phillies or Eagles during their respective seasons. Otherwise, he’d dial-up a classic Western to pass the time.

As time went on, he enjoyed going out for breakfast or dinner at a local restaurant with friends and family. Ultimately, spending time with family and friends is what mattered most.

Surviving are his sons, Robert Shultz Jr. (Flo) of Lewisberry, David Shultz of Raleigh, NC, and Andrew Shultz (Deborah) of Lewisberry; stepsons, Scott D. Radabaugh (Laurie) of Shiremanstown, and Eric M. Radabaugh (Darlene) of Clayton, NC; a stepdaughter, Kathy Witmer of Lewisberry; fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and lifelong best friends, Doug and Kathy Weaver of York Springs.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Robert’s name to the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, 17111.
