Bob was born on November 12th, 1934 in Jeddo, a former mining town outside of Hazelton, PA, to George and Anna Mae (née Yuhas) Tucker. When he was still young, his family moved to Harrisburg where Bob would find his lifelong home in the city and environs of Camp Hill and Dillsburg. Growing up, he attended Catholic parochial school but graduated from William Penn High School in 1952. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged in 1956 with the rank of Sergeant.
When he returned to civilian life, he found employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a field tax agent, a job that he loved because he got to meet so many people. Even if they were not always happy to see him on collection day, he always had a kind word for everyone. His career with the State spanned decades, and he retired in 1992 as a Regional Director of Field Operations for the Department of Labor & Industry to become a stay-at-home father to his daughter. As much as he loved his job, the true loves of his life were his wife Elaine, with whom he shared almost 45 years of love, laughter and friendship; and his daughter Toni, who he raised, nurtured and inspired for 35 years, though his influence will last forever. After his "girls", he would say that other loves of his life were his dogs, and over the course of his life he shared close companionship with many adoring pooches. In addition to his canine friends, Bob had a passion for golf and bowling even if he always said that he was a "stinky golfer" and a "stinky bowler". He was also a lifetime member of the downtown Harrisburg YMCA where he played racquetball and went for runs and walks along the riverfront.
His less physical pursuits and hobbies included reading mystery novels, doing crossword puzzles, and writing poems and silly songs to entertain his family. He loved art, and was a lifelong painter and "doodler", and almost never missed a Phillies game.
Bob- "Tuck", "Bobby T.", "daddo", "honey": you will be dearly missed, though we know you are near and we have you in our hearts. Love you always and forever.
