Roger A. Estep

Roger A. Estep, 86 of Fairview Twp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 302024.

He was born in Harrisburg on August 3, 1937, to Don and Thelma Reisser who pre-deceased him.

After the family moved to New Cumberland, Roger graduated from the former New Cumberland High School in 1955. He joined the Naval Reserve serving six years. Roger was a former K-9 officer for New Cumberland Boro with his German shepherd “King”. Roger was always active in the community giving generously of his time to New Cumberland and Fairview twp. Fire Departments, Red Land Midget Football and Little League.

In 1980 he was appointed by Gov. Thornburgh to serve the residents of the district court for the Fairview, Newberry, and Conewago Townships, Goldsboro, Lewisberry, and York Haven Boroughs as their District Justice. The “Judge” served through 3 more elections until 2000. After which, he served as Senior Judge, serving as needed until mandatory retirement at the age of 78. He loved his job and commented that he hoped that he had helped the good, and the not so good, in some small way.

He was a member of the Special Court Judge’s Association and taught courtroom procedures at both HACC and Penn State Police Academy.

He was preceded by his daughter Lisa Leen and brother Charles “Chuck” Estep.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years Sandra R. Estep, two sons Don (Hilda) Estep and Calvin (Shawna) Estep, Two stepdaughters Kelly (Rick) Donmoyer and Tracy Watts, grandchildren Patrick, Ryan, Sean and Alesia Leen, Austin, Brandon, Lindsey and Ray Estep and two step grandchildren Austin Donmoyer and Tara Watts, two sisters Donna McGarry and Betsy Bair and two brothers George (Julie) and David (Susan) Estep.

Visitation will be from 10am until memorial services at 11:30am Thursday, May 16th at Trinity Church, 415 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to his church, New Cumberland Fire Department, Fairview Township EMS, 522 Locust Road, New Cumberland, or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania,  https://hospiceofcentralpa.org/
