Ronald "Ron" Webster Kutz

Ronald Kutz of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away peacefully at the Silver Spring Personal Care Home on September 2, 2026. His positive approach to life, strong work ethic, sense of humor and willingness to help in any situation set an outstanding example for his children and many others to follow.

Ron was born November 26, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Jacob W. and Ruth N. (Waggoner) Kutz. He grew up in Harrisburg, PA and was a 1952 graduate of John Harris High School, also in Harrisburg, PA. At a YMCA dance in 1953, Ron danced with former classmate, Margie Banks; a chance encounter that led to a lifelong love and partnership. He has been looking forward to being with her again since her passing in 2024.

Ron is survived by three children, David W. Kutz (Linda) of Marysville, PA, James W. Kutz (Debora) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Jeanne L. Kutz Farinelli (Donald) of Mechanicsburg, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren including Bradley (Kate), Matthew (Brady Leigh), Caroline (Josh), Lauren (Ryan), Daniel (Courtney), Brian, Nina (Ryan), Thomas (Allie) and Emma; a step-grandchild, Heather (Larry); eleven great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Ron is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert Banks (Judy), four nephews and three nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Margie, and his four sisters, Nellie Woods (Larry), Irene Schommer (Bob), Elsie Lackey (Leo) and Connie Polleck (Dick).

After graduating from Rider College, Ron began a 42-year career in various positions with AMP, Inc. in central PA, including a long-term role as a manufacturing plant manager. Outside work, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends at the cabin he built in 1965 and playing basketball. His recreational basketball career (featuring his well-known hook shot) spanned 50+ years. He gave back to the community through his extensive service with the Lower Allen Sewer Authority, Park Planning Committee and Little League baseball, and served in many capacities at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church.

A self-taught skilled craftsman, Ron could build anything from the family cabin and home renovations to beautiful furniture and intricate wood carvings. These skills served him (and others) well as he and Margie traveled with the Silver Spring Presbyterian ROAR team to rebuild hurricane damaged homes in the south or to make needed repairs to homes in rural Maine and West Virginia. He was always ready and willing to help people in need from all walks of life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, PA on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:00 am. The family will greet guests at the church following the service for light refreshments. A private burial in Rolling Green Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
