Rosemary K. Lyons

Rosemary K. Lyons, 92, formerly of Camp Hill, passed away Friday March 31, 2023, with her family by her side at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg.

Born on April 11, 1930, in Carnegie, she was the daughter of the late Clyde E. and Agnes A. (McGann) Kumpf. Rosemary was the widow of Ralph L. Lyons, Jr. and was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Robert Nipple and Eva Lyons Meredith, a sister, Inez Buffinton and brothers, John Kumpf, Clyde Kumpf, Jr., and Earl Kumpf, and a son-in-law, Donald DeMartyn.

Rose retired from Highmark Blue Shield, Camp Hill, PA after 22 years’ service. She was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, New Cumberland, since 1938. Rose was active in the Little Flower Club, Church Cleaning Crew, and Mercy Services, as well as the Arimathean Ministry Group.

In her free time, she enjoyed painting with oils, doing ceramics and baking pies, which were a family favorite. She also had great fun doing water aerobics. The things she loved most though were the times spent with her family and friends. Vacations to the seashore, holidays and birthday parties were the best of times for us all.

Surviving are her seven children, Linda Cover (Arthur), Lynn DeMartyn, Kathleen Harney (John), Ted Lyons (Cyndi), Patricia Lyons (Steve Meredith), Laura Rhodes (Jeffrey), and Becky Lyons; six grandchildren, Andrea Cover, Jennifer Miller, Dawn Fleming (Stan), Joshua Lyons (Sarah), Jason Lyons (Lisa), and Patrick Harney; as well as nine great grandchildren and seven grand-dogs.

The family wishes to thank the kind and loving caregivers at Messiah Lifeways and Hospice of Central PA, who were always so patient, gentle and devoted to our mother, Rose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 12, in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, with the Rev. J. Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.

The viewing will be held 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, April 11, in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, New Cumberland.
