Samuel Ray Leach

Samuel Ray Leach, 67, of Lemoyne, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was a retired Train Dispatcher with Norfolk Southern Corporation, Harrisburg Dispatch Office.  Sam was a class of 1974 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill; a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lemoyne; the local AFLCIO; the Sierra Club; and the West Shore Historical Society.  He was a past Lemoyne Borough Councilman and a past member of the West Shore Rec Commission.

Sam liked to cook all kinds of soups and appetizers and was always sharing them with friends. He tried his hand at beer making and pizza making and was pretty good at it.

He also enjoyed sitting out on his front porch and watching the birds at the feeders. Not to mention watching his tomatoes and peppers grow and eating them.

Since Sam never wore shoes and had an absolute distaste for footwear, please sport your flip-flops or other open-toed shoes in his honor.

Sam was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Snoke) Leach.

He is survived by his wife of more than 37 years, Andrea J. (Ballantine) Leach; his son George R. Leach of Harrisburg; and his brother David Leach of Lemoyne.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 19 in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 509 Hummel Ave. Lemoyne, PA 17043 with the Rev. George Scott officiating.
