Sharon “Sherry” (Usoff) Edwards, 79, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born on April 3, 1946, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Beryl (Hicks) Usoff and the late George E. Usoff.
She was a proud graduate of Middletown Area High School (Class of 1964), and would go on to obtain an undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College before earning her Master’s in Education at Penn State University. She taught 3rd grade for 38 years at Alice Demey Elementary School, retiring in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Sherman Edwards (d. 2017). Surviving Sherry is her mother, Beryl (Hicks) Usoff; a sister, Diane Usoff; a niece, Diane Givler (Dusty); cousins Carol Gearhart (John) and John Rapp (Nancy); plus two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews from the Edwards family.
She was a riding member of the International Side Saddle Organization, and rode her horse Zorro in multiple Presidential Inaugural Parades. She was a past president of the Beaufort Hunt Club, as well as long time secretary, board member, and editor of the newsletter. She was treasurer for the local chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization. She was a past First Lady of the Zembo Shrine, was active in the Zembo Sports Car Unit, the Luncheon Club, and she organized countless Zembo trips. She was the treasurer for the Zembo’s Merry Widows Association, and she was active in the Lancaster County Shrine Club. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 552 for more than 50 years, and was a previous member of Daughters of the Nile Ozemb Temple 52. She was a member of the local Red Hat Society, the Middletown Historical Society, and the National Carousel Association. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, in which she was a Life Master. She was a member of the Harrisburg Bridge Club, White Rose Bridge Club, Masonic Village Tuesday Duplicate Bridge Group, and the Monday Night Contract Bridge Group. She also delivered Meals on Wheels.
In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, organizing bus trips, anything to do with trivia, and getting together with her many, many friends. She will be remembered fondly by friends and family as someone who talked fast, was always on the go, baked the best Symphony brownies, and never forgot to send a birthday card or a Christmas present.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Sherry will be held on Wednesday, September 24th, at 1pm in the Zembo Shrine Center, 2801 North 3rd Street, Harrisburg. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Zembo Shrine Transportation Fund, 2801 North 3rd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 in honor of Sharon Edwards. All of the funds go to cover the cost of transporting patients to the Shrine Hospital for Children.
