Sharon K. Vugrinec

May 28, 1946 — February 26, 2026

York Haven, PA

Sharon K. (Coder) Vugrinec, 79, of Newberry Twp., and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp. She was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Doris (Nace) Bowers, born on May 28, 1946, in Harrisburg.

Sharon was a 1965 graduate of McDevitt High School, where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Stephen J. “Kansas” Vugrinec. The two would go on to share 57 years of marriage together.

She would spend her entire career working in accounts payable/receivable, ultimately retiring from Tyco after many dedicated years of service.

Sharon and Steve lived in Harrisburg and Rutherford before eventually settling in York Haven, where they remained close to their children and growing families. Sharon loved to shop—she could happily spend hours browsing at Boscov’s—and treasured time away at the beach or at her family’s place in the Poconos. In her younger years, she found quiet enjoyment in gardening. She also had a special affection for animals, especially dogs, and leaves behind her loyal and loving (and slightly hyperactive) Maltipoo, Teddy.

Family was always at the center of Sharon and Steve’s lives. Together, they modeled what a faithful, loving marriage should be. Excellent parents, and arguably even better grandparents, they supported their kids and grandchildren in all facets of life; stepping in to help when they struggled and cheering them on in times of success. Their love was unconditional and especially felt around the Sunday dinner table, during the holidays in their home, and in countless moments in between. Their family will miss them deeply, yet finds comfort in knowing they are reunited.

Surviving Sharon are her children, Colleen M. Sowers (Dave) and Shawn M. Vugrinec, both of York Haven; grandchildren, Nicole Kauffman (Phil), Tristin (Stevie), Wyatt, Jared, Olivia, Rachel, and Gage; great-grandchildren, Brady, Levi, Bryan, Leah, and Lydia; a brother, Edward “Eddie” Bowers; and several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Coder; and her biological father, Daniel Coder.

A visitation will be held from 10-11AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with an 11:30AM mass following at St. Thersa Catholic Church (located directly across the street from the funeral home). Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
