Shaun David Wingeard, 52, of Camp Hill, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at UPMC West Shore Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1969 in Camp Hill to Pamela (Bonner) DeBoard and the late David W. Wingeard Jr.
Shaun graduated from Red Land High School (’87) and would go on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Technology was his passion, and it was the focal point of both his career and hobbies. He was employed with the PA Office of Administration, Harrisburg, in their networking and security department, and he embraced his role as the “go to” guy for anyone in need of help. Unsurprisingly, he played that same role at home, where his wife and two girls were his absolute pride and joy.
He was a character, a bright spot in any room and seemingly knew everyone. He kept up with old friends and enjoyed meeting new people; whether it was at the New Cumberland VFW or Legion, or in a chatroom while online gaming, his social skills were always on full display. Fantasy football was a way to keep in touch with buddies from high school and being on the golf course (usually) brought him happiness. If he was in front of the TV, expect something Sci-Fi or an old western – except for Saturday mornings, which were designated for the English Premier League. A Liverpool fan, his love for soccer stemmed from his playing days in high school. A varsity baseball player as well, he would play Legion ball and then recreational softball from that point on.
Although approachable and easy to be with, Shaun would tell you how he felt on a particular issue without reservation. He was the catalyst for family fun, and yearly trips to Top Sail, NC were what brought him true happiness. He exemplified strength and perseverance, and he showed his family how to be a warrior, fighting cancer for ten years with positivity and determination. Instead of wallowing in his diagnosis, he made the most of his remaining time; Shaun continued to thrive at work, enjoy his hobbies and be with those he loved most. In addition to the people he leaves behind, a very good boy named Linus will surely miss his best buddy, as will Shaun’s grand-dogs.
Surviving Shaun is his wife of 25 years, Janette (Moore) Wingeard; his daughters, Quinlynn Wingeard (fiancé, Adam Morris) and Gretchen Wingeard; sisters, Lara Desautels (husband, Jerrel) and Lisa Wingeard-Klimowicz (husband, Nicholas); his mother, Pamela DeBoard (husband, Rondale); a brother, David Wingeard (companion, Kim Mader); step-father, Robert Howerter; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-6PM on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the Kimberly Ann Fahnestock-Voelz Memorial Post 7530 (Lower Allen VFW), 4545 Westport Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
