Shirley Virginia Shipley

Shirley Virginia Shipley, 88, of Harrisburg, PA passed away on January 6, 2026. Born on November 17, 1937, in Artemas, PA, to the late Dennis and Carolyn (Curren) Jay. Shirley lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Shirley enjoyed a fulfilling career in retail sales, where her friendly demeanor and commitment to service left a lasting impact on those she encountered. Her joy, however, blossomed outside the workplace-she was an active member of the Farm Women Group, where she built lifelong friendships and shared her passion for gardening. She exuded joy while surrounded by her family, often found playing cards, cooking up delicious meals, or listening to her favorite country music.

A devoted mother to her four sons, Frederic (Deborah Davis), Barry (Kimberly Petroff-Shipley), Donald, and Steven (Lori), Shirley took immense pride in watching them grow into the wonderful men they are today. Always wanting a girl of her own, she took in Kathy (Vic) Fies as the daughter she never had. Her legacy will continue through her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Bradley) Foor and brother, Larry (Denise) Jay. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by the love of her life, Willard Shipley in 2020 and a sister, Evelyn Clingerman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice For All Seasons, 280 South Hill Drive, Grantville, PA 17028.
